Precision Grinder | Grinding Machinist
Location: Fort Worth, Texas
Schedule: Full-Time | 8-Hour Shift | Overtime Available
Compensation: $23 to $30 per hour, depending on experience
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
TrendHR is seeking experienced Precision Grinders / Grinding Machinists on behalf of our client, an established precision machining operation in Fort Worth serving industries including aerospace, industrial manufacturing, energy, and specialized equipment.
This is not a basic production grinding or hand-grinding position. We are looking for experienced grinding professionals who understand precision machining and are comfortable setting up and operating grinding equipment to produce parts to exact dimensions, tolerances, and surface-finish requirements.
Candidates with experience operating OD, ID, surface, and Blanchard grinders are strongly encouraged to apply.
This shop operates in a custom, project-based machining environment, so the work varies from job to job. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys precision craftsmanship, working from prints, setting up their own equipment, and producing high-quality components rather than performing repetitive production work.

- Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, job travelers, and specifications
- Select and properly dress grinding wheels based on material and job requirements
- Make machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy throughout the grinding process
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Work with materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys
- Verify dimensions and surface finishes throughout the grinding process
- Perform multiple setups and transition between different jobs and components
- Maintain grinding equipment and an organized work area

Work Environment
This is not a high-volume production grinding operation.
Our client operates a precision machining job shop producing custom components for specific customer orders. Grinders must be comfortable moving between jobs, completing different setups, working with various materials, and producing components to customer specifications.
Successful candidates will understand that grinding is often the final precision operation on a part, making attention to detail, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish extremely important.
This position is best suited for someone who takes pride in precision work and can independently take a job from print and setup through grinding and final inspection.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Precision Grinder, Grinding Machinist, Tool Grinder, or similar machining role
- Hands-on experience with OD and/or ID grinding
- Experience operating surface grinders
- Experience with Blanchard grinding strongly preferred
- Ability to independently set up grinding equipment
- Strong blueprint and machining drawing interpretation skills
- Experience working to tight tolerances
- Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Understanding of grinding wheels, wheel selection, dressing, feeds, speeds, and surface finishes
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to work independently in a custom machining environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Candidates with experience across multiple grinding processes, particularly OD, ID, surface, and Blanchard grinding, will receive strong consideration.
